Terms of Service

Personal-use licence
You may use Letterfade for your own personal, non-commercial reading.
You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control. You may not resell, sublicence, or redistribute the app.
Store terms
The App Store and Google Play terms also apply.
On Apple devices, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the app. On Android, Google Play’s terms apply. If they conflict with these terms about the app itself, the store’s terms apply.
Content you bring
You are responsible for the books, feeds, and webpages you use with Letterfade.
Only import EPUB files and use feeds you have the right to read. Letterfade opens EPUBs without DRM and doesn’t remove DRM or bypass paywalls. Letterfade doesn’t review, claim rights to, or take responsibility for content you bring into the app.
Free access
Levels 1–5 are free for every script. Indigenous scripts are free at every level.
Level 6 and above for other scripts requires the All Script Levels purchase. Reading, importing, feeds, and sync don’t require a purchase.
Purchases through the store
All Script Levels is sold only through the App Store or Google Play.
It’s available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Each option unlocks the same levels. Prices are shown by the store before you buy, and the store processes payment under its own terms.
Renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in the store.
Cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Access to the extra levels continues until the end of the current paid period. Cancelling never removes your books or reading progress.
Purchases are platform-specific
A purchase unlocks levels on the platform where you bought it.
An App Store purchase applies to your Apple devices on the same Apple Account; a Google Play purchase applies to your Android devices on the same Google account. Purchases don’t transfer between Apple and Android. Restore Purchases checks the store account on the device you’re using.
Refunds
Refunds are handled by the App Store or Google Play.
Letterfade can’t issue refunds, because the store processes payment. Request one from Apple or from your Google Play order history, under the store’s refund terms.
Bundled books
The starter library contains public-domain works.
Those works remain in the public domain. The Letterfade app, its design, and its script mappings are not part of that public-domain grant.
Sync is not a backup
Sync is a convenience, not a backup service.
Sync copies your library and reading state to your own iCloud or Google Drive storage. Keep your own copies of files that matter to you. Letterfade is not responsible for data lost through sync errors, deleted storage, or a store account you lose access to.
No warranty
Letterfade is provided “as is.”
To the extent permitted by law, Letterfade is provided without warranties of any kind, including that it will be error-free or always available.
Limitation of liability
Liability is limited to the extent the law allows.
To the extent permitted by law, Letterfade is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can’t be waived.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah.
This doesn’t take away any protection that the consumer laws of the place where you live give you and that can’t be waived.
Changes
Letterfade and these terms may change.
Features, pricing, and the free levels may change over time, and you can stop using Letterfade at any time by deleting it. If these terms change, the date at the top will change with it.
